Our Mission

Flagship seeks to bring undergraduate students, writers, and artists to the intersection of travel, culture, and creative expression. At the center of this intersection are diverse voices and experiences, which are essential for reshaping our perspectives of the world. Through art, multimedia, and stories, Flagship provides a creative space for Susquehanna University students, alumni, and other undergraduate students around the world to reflect on how travel affects personal growth and cultural understanding.

Our GOALS

Flagship believes every story matters. We embrace travel experiences in any form; we do not define travel by grandness nor destination. We recognize that any interaction with an unfamiliar environment–whether that is across the globe or within the same state–can be transformative.

We want our contributors to reflect on how engaging with different places and cultures has shaped their understanding of the world. Each experience highlights the vast and varying ways travel can impact individuals. By sharing these experiences and insights, Flagship invites readers to explore new ideas, challenge their ethnocentric assumptions, and broaden their horizons.

We will publish an online edition in Spring 2025, and a print anthology every few years that highlights a selection from previous editions.

OUR HISTORY

“Named after the ships that lead adventurers around the world, Flagship too represents the hopes, the challenges, and sometimes the anxieties that students feel as they venture forth on their travels.” — Alexis Gargin, Founder of Flagship Magazine
